Proud of our past, prepared for the future!

In 1949, a group of employees at the Hershey Chocolate Company formed the Hershey Employees #464 Federal Credit Union. In 1982, the name was changed to Hershey Federal Credit Union to reflect the Board’s policy of open membership to groups within the Hershey Chocolate Company (now known as The Hershey Company) and other related groups in the Hershey area. The Chocolate Workers Local #464 was a solid supporter of the credit union and provided office space for most of the years until 1980. That was the year that the credit union purchased and moved into the building at 904 East Chocolate Avenue, Hershey.

Over the years after 1980, the credit union grew and added more services for members. It also opened the membership to other companies in the Hershey area in 1988. In April of 1998, a new branch was opened in Cleona. Then, in November of 2003, HFCU was approved to open membership to the Dauphin County and Lebanon County community. Now, besides our company affiliations, anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in these counties can be a member of Hershey Federal Credit Union. We see ourselves as a local financial institution, able to fulfill the financial needs of our neighbors, our company affiliates, and all the people in our community who are looking for stability and friendliness in their financial services provider.

Although there have been many changes, including the number and types of services provided, the increase in members, more locations, online and telephone access to account information, and who can join and take part in all the credit union benefits, one thing has stayed the same...our quality personal service and the commitment to provide the best products and rates for our members. And we plan to stay independent, not taken over as many other financial institutions are…losing their identity and any ties to the locality. HFCU will be here in the future…helping our members better their lives and reach financial success.

Since the humble beginnings in 1949, Hershey Federal Credit Union has grown and is a strong, viable, LOCAL financial institution. HFCU has a great potential for even more growth and has a mission to provide for ways to serve our members even better! We are proud of the past years and the support shown by our members. We will continue to provide quality service in a personal, professional manner for everyone we can serve. We ARE prepared for the future, and all that it holds.
