Applications for the $1,000 Richard E. Fogleman Memorial Scholarship are now being accepted. This scholarship has been awarded annually since 1995 to a deserving HFCU member who is pursuing higher education beyond high school. The scholarship was originated to honor former HFCU Board Chairman, Richard E. Fogleman, who passed away in 1994.
To qualify for the scholarship, an applicant must be an HFCU member in good standing. The completed application and a 300-word essay, titled "Why my HFCU account is important to me", must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Friday, June 4, 2010. The criteria on which judges base the scholarship decision are:
- Quality and content of the essay
- Financial need
- Extracurricular activities
- Use of HFCU services
