HFCU Policy on Member Privacy

Privacy is fundamental to the American way of life.  When you provide personal information in order to transact business, you fully expect your data to be used only for its intended purpose and to be kept confidential.

That's how it should be -- and how it is when you do business with Hershey Federal Credit Union.  We respect your right to confidentiality and take every possible measure to ensure that your personal information remains personal.  Here's what we do:

  • First, we only ask for information we truly need to complete a transaction or maintain a business relationship with you, in full compliance with current law.
  • Second, we restrict employee access to personal information to a "need to know" basis.  Only employees who legitimately require your personal data to complete a business transaction ever see it.
  • Third, we strictly enforce procedures that prevent unauthorized access to your data.
  • Fourth, we will not disclose your personal data to other parties unless you authorize us to do so when you initiate a business transaction (for example, to reputable credit reporting bureaus) or unless we are required to do so by law.
  • Fifth, we require all reporting agencies and other organizations to which we provide data to have similar privacy safeguards, to further ensure your confidentiality.

In short, we work hard to earn your confidence and preserve your trust.

We value your business and hope you will remain with us for many years to come.  If you ever have any questions or concerns about the integrity of your account information -- or any other aspect of our business operations -- please don't hesitate to telephone or come in to talk to our staff.

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you.  We may also ask to see your driver’s license or other identifying documents.
