In 1949, a group of employees at the Hershey Chocolate Company formed the Hershey Employees #464 Federal Credit Union. In 1982, the name was changed to Hershey Federal Credit Union to reflect the Board's policy of open membership to groups within the Hershey Chocolate Company (now known as The Hershey Company) and other related groups in the Hershey area. The Chocolate Workers Local #464 was a solid supporter of the credit union and provided office space for most of the years until 1980. That was the year that the credit union purchased and moved into the first office building at 904 East Chocolate Avenue, Hershey.

Since 1980, the credit union has grown, in membership and asset size, and in ways to serve the members. In 1988, the membership was expanded to include other companies in the Hershey area. In April of 1998, a new branch was opened in Cleona. Then, in November of 2003, Hershey FCU became a Community Chartered credit union with membership open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the Dauphin County and Lebanon County community. Hershey FCU remains a local financial institution, able to fulfill the financial needs of our neighbors, our company affiliates, and all the people in our community who are looking for stability and friendliness in their financial services provider.

After becoming a community credit union, Hershey FCU grew even more. In 2007, Hershey FCU opened a new office on Route 39, just north of Hershey. This new office became the new headquarters for Hershey FCU, as well as a comfortable new branch for members. The Hershey office on Chocolate Avenue remained open as a full-service branch. Then, in 2011, Hershey FCU moved the office in Cleona to a newly-renovated building in Annville. This office is only one mile away from the former Cleona office, but it provides two drive-in lanes, a drive-up ATM, and is much more convenient for members.

Although there have been many changes, including more locations, the number and types of services provided, online and telephone access to account information, and who can join and take part in all the credit union benefits, one thing has stayed the same - our high quality personal service and the commitment to provide the best products and competitive rates for our members. 

Since the humble beginnings in 1949, Hershey Federal Credit Union has grown and is a strong, viable, LOCAL financial institution. We are still guided by a dedicated volunteer board of directors who really care about the members and how they are served. Our employees are professional and well trained, but are also friendly and learn to know members by name!
